Mole Checks & Removal
With new figures recently confirming skin cancer as the most common form of cancer among the 15-34 age group and, across all ages, causing upwards of 2500 deaths in the UK each year, Cardiff’s Independent General Practice has launched a new initiative to help tackle this growing problem.
In collaboration with The IGP, consultant dermatologist Dr Andrew Morris will lead a team of experienced professionals, who will check moles for any signs of malignant melanoma and also the less serious non-melanoma skin cancer. The removal of unsightly or unwanted moles will also be offered. If further investigation or treatment is required for a problem mole, patients will be immediately referred to the appropriate NHS hospital.
Once established, the team will also be offering the service as a fully fledged ‘mole patrol’ – visiting companies by request to check on employees who may have moles that they are worried about but for which they haven’t yet sought a medical opinion. The Independent General Practice can perform minor surgery for Skin Tags, Moles and Warts. An appointment is usually recommended first if you are concerned about a mole that you suspect may need removal.
